We love and encourage a whole food diet whenever it's possible. That is simply the very best way to get the vitamins and minerals your body needs. Fresh and organic whole food choices are also the easiest way for your body to assimilate and integrate nutrients it can use. Unfortunately, even the very best of us on our most perfect food weeks are going to be missing out on key nutrients.
This is partially because our food supply is contaminated and our soil is depleted. We aren't able to get the same quality produce and animal products that generations before us have. This leaves definite gaps in our diet and is a huge contributer to the health issues on the rise in our country.
One of our favorite questions to talk about is, why don’t we recommend a multivitamin?
As you can tell, we care a lot about the sources and ingredients and levels available in the supplements we recommend. If we are making the effort with our time and memory and money, it’s gotta be worth it.
The problem with most multi vitamins is they aren’t sourced well, they don’t even come close to the levels our bodies need, they often include so many different vitamins that don’t absorb well together. Healthy people who eat a whole food diet don’t really need all that’s offered in a multi anyway. In short: they are usually a false sense of security, a marketing ploy and a waste of money.
Are all supplements created equally? Definitely not! The supplement industry is a hot mess, full of terrible sources, bad ingredients and dangerous fillers. We are careful to vet the brands we recommend, make sure the form of the nutrient is correct, and share dosing ranges that functional studies prove to actually make a difference in your body.
THIS GUIDE includes a master shopping checklist list with all 12 supplement recommendation for women's health. We included our favorite brands and appropriate doses for each option to get you equipped and at optimal wellness. Enjoy!
